This popular self-guided tour of historic barns brings awareness to the public of Frederick County's strong agricultural heritage and how barns were constructed to last. Barn docents will greet ticket holders at each barn location to share information and answer questions. During this time, artists and crafters will be creating at the barns.​​​

Come meet author Nancy Spannaus as she discusses the often-ignored early anti-slavery movement and how Alexander Hamilton's policies could have led to the movement's success. Slavery is not in America's DNA.

Frühlingsfest with maypole dancing at Schifferstadt

The Museum is reviving an old tradition, called Spring Fest in English, or Frühlingsfest in German! Dance the maypole, enjoy colonial children's games, German cookies, and join us for house tours. Frederick Sister Cities Association will be selling brats.

​​Rain or shine! Free entry. Join us for our most popular event, an important fundraiser for the operation of our organization and upkeep of Schifferstadt. Come enjoy great food and drink, lively German music, historic demonstrators, tours of the museum, and hand-made products from many arts & crafts vendors. Our biggest event of the year!​​​​​

While visiting Frederick's oldest house, a National Historic Landmark, consider exploring the Gift Shop for an opportunity to do some of your holiday shopping. You'll find a selection of period toys, ornaments, cards, and more, including books that could make for unique and thoughtful gifts.
