Visit eight unique barns on farms around the Sabillasville area.

This popular self-guided tour of historic barns brings awareness to the public of Frederick County's strong agricultural heritage and how barns were constructed to last. Barn docents will greet ticket holders at each barn location to share information and answer questions. During this time, artists and crafters will be creating at the barns.

In the morning, breakfast sandwiches, pastries and coffee will be sold at the local St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 17015 Sabillasville Rd.
​
From 12:00 noon -5:00 p.m., a bake sale and food trucks selling grilled cheese, sliders, and cold drinks will be at the host site (identified in the ticket booklet).
​
From 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., tour goers are invited to the host site, which will be identified in the ticket booklet, for a judged art show and art sale event while listening to old-time music performed by the Gravy Soppers. The art show and sale will start at 3:30 p.m.
​
Please leave your pets at home.

Tickets are $20. Children under 12 are free. Each adult ticket buyer must wear a provided wristband to be admitted to the barn properties.

Independence Day at Schifferstadt

Step back in time to the era that spawned the war for independence. See the 1758 home of Elias Brunner, a pioneer settler who helped track violations of the trade embargo with Britain and whose descendants fought in Washington’s army. The family that escaped political oppression in the Old World was not about to accept it in their New World.

Colonial era games for all ages, food and drink. House tours, of course.

FCLF Annual Meeting and Election

We warmly invite you to join us for a delightful gathering of members, friends, docents, and volunteers.
The key speaker for the evening will be Mardelle Poffenberger, chair of the FCLF Barnstormers Committee. She will be presenting on the history and future of this important yearly fundraiser. This will provide an insider’s perspective whether you regularly attend Barnstormers as a visitor or docent or have not had the good fortune to join us on the day.
​
We will also hear from the incoming president, Johannes Gross, of our affiliated organization, the Frederick Sister Cities Association.
​
Election of officers will be held following the presentations. Light refreshments will be served. Donations are always appreciated.
We look forward to seeing you and sharing the wonderful work done by our members and volunteers during our 52nd year!

Schifferstadt: Enjoy free children's activities, living history/demonstrations, music and refreshments while visiting Frederick's oldest house, a National Historic Landmark. As per custom, Frederick Sister Cities Association will be selling bratwursts and gluhwein in the summer kitchen at Schifferstadt. Consider exploring the Gift Shop for an opportunity to do some of your holiday shopping. You'll find a selection of period toys, paraphernalia, and books that could make for unique and thoughtful gifts.

Zion Church: Visit the Sugarloaf Mountain area's first church consecrated in 1802. Learn about its unique history, enjoy some refreshments, and see it lit for the holidays.
​
Museums by Candlelight is an annual event held simultaneously at various historic sites and museums around Frederick County each December and is sponsored by the Frederick Historic Sites Consortium.
